to be a parent’s voice on the school board. I will make sure that parents feel heard by the school board. I will lengthen public comment time at school board meetings. Every stakeholder should be heard.
I will implement community outreach opportunities for stakeholders to talk about their concerns. Right now, the only way to talk to our board representative is by email or phone. That is not good enough. We need to have ongoing conversations with board members that represent us.
to defend parents’ rights as stated in the Utah Constitution. Parents retain the fundamental right and duty to exercise primary control over the care, supervision, upbringing, and education of their children.
to make Summit Learning a choice. Summit learning is a data mining platform. It is a low quality education that does not prepare our children for life after high school. Families should be able to choose if they want to use Summit or not. It should not be forced on anyone.
to be approachable and listen to all stakeholders. I am willing to have hard conversations, especially with those that don't share my views. I want what's best for ALL students. I believe we can learn a lot from each other if we are willing to listen.
to get rid of outside programs that are taking over our district. There are too many outside programs taking away valuable instruction time. Our current school board has given up local control of our schools. We are using programs funded by Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates that do not help our children succeed academically.
to follow the law and remove pornographic books from our school libraries.
to support sports programs and the fine arts. Both of these programs have impacted my children in positive ways. I have a son that is very involved in football and a daughter that is involved in musicals. I believe that all programs should be supported by our district.
to restore local control of classrooms back to the teachers. I believe one of the standards for high academic success is the teacher-student connection. I value our teachers and want them to feel appreciated. I am worried about teacher morale. Our teachers are over worked. Every year there is more expected of our teachers, which leaves them less time to teach. We need to allow our teachers to teach.
to educate myself on the issues that are affecting our classrooms. I will share what I have learned with you, so we can work together to keep our schools places where our kids can thrive without being indoctrinated. I know the dangers of SEL, CRT and CSE. I will not allow these hurtful ideologies to be part of our curriculum. If it is not teaching our children academics, then it doesn't belong in our schools.
to hold the Superintendent and top district employees accountable for their decisions. District leadership should be able to defend every decision they make that affect our kids. One of the roles of the school board is to hire the Superintendent. I understand that the Superintendent is accountable to the school board and the school board is accountable to you. I promise full transperancy.
to conduct an internal audit to find out where and how our taxpayer money is being spent.
to minimize the use of technology in the classroom. I understand that technology is part of the world we live in, but there needs to be a balance between technology and direct instruction.
to make our schools safe places of learning for ALL students. Our past and current district leadership have failed us. This has created an environment of fear. The DOJ settlement requires our teachers to become mandatory reporters. They have to report everything our kids do, and that data is shared with the DOJ every six months. I will do everything in my power to get rid of the DOJ.
